This is not a final design. I assisted with a project with a very optimistic deadline. The challenge was to create a dashboard, build up of cards. During the process I discovered that the structure of the dashboard wasn’t optimal and that the main problem was the placement of the map-card. In a overview of all users the map-card should get the main focus. But then, when you go to a view for a single user, the map-card was not as important. Because of consistency (and the deadline) the designer chose to place the map-card in the single-user-view at the same place as the map-card in the overview page.
During a free weekend I thought about the issue and came up with this. The map stays at one consistent place by placing it as a fullscreen background. This way all the cards can be placed on top of the map. And instead of making a card for the map, you can leave space open where you want the map to be visible. The result of this (imagine it with cool but subtle animations) will be that the map stays at a consistent place but will always get the fitting focus.
Beside this structural change I also changed the light theme to a dark theme and added some improvements to get the UX better.
